Show & Tell Competition 2025
‘Show and Tell’ Competition
The LIR HEAnet User Group for Libraries is running its very successful Show & Tell competition once again.
We are delighted to offer 10 places on a two-part podcast creation workshop at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) on Saturday 4th October and Saturday 18th October.
Early-career library staff, or those who have worked in libraries for 5 years or less, will be able to develop ideas, create content and receive hands-on training to refine their work. Applicants must be available to attend both sessions. There are limited places available, so please return this form by 17th September.
Prizes will be given to the top 3 submissions and a selection of videos will be showcased on the LIR Group website.

Who can participate in this workshop?
All early career library staff with five years or less experience of working in library environments on the island of Ireland, as well current LIS students, and/or recently qualified library professionals from LAI or CILIP accredited institutions
Where and when is the workshop?
The workshop will be held on Saturday 4th October and Saturday 18th October, from 10am – 3pm. It will be located at The Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin. Light refreshments will be provided on the day.
What will the workshop cover?
The workshop will cover a range of basic, practical skills required to create a short podcast. It will look specficially at the context of creating podcast content for contemporary Irish libraries. Over the 2 days, participants will gain expertise in the ideation, testing, creation and review of podcast content. The workshop will support peer learning and network building.
How does the competition work?
This is the 3rd LIR Show and Tell Competition for early-career librarians. This year we wish to provide a supportive environment in which participants can create their competition entries. Participants will be invited to submit their short podcasts, and prizes will be awarded for the top 3 entries. The prizes will be All-4-One vouchers for €150, €100 and €50 respectively. Prizes will be awarded at the LIR Annual Seminar in the Spring, and selected works will be shared on the LIR website.
