Attendees experimented with authoring tools, head mounted cameras and debated best practice in e learning design. The volume of questions and discussion that was generated was indicative of a very strong interest in this area within the profession.\u00a0One attendee commented \u201cExcellent content on a subject that I wanted to learn more about\u201d, whilst an attending lecturer tweeted \u201chad such a great day at <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/lirtechtools?src=hash\">\u00a0#lirtechtools<\/a> &#8230;the knowledge transfer (between librarians and academics) worked both ways I think!\u201d Further reading, resources\u00a0and presentations now <a href=\"http:\/\/lirgroup.heanet.ie\/drupal\/?q=techtoolsforteachingprogramme\">available<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lirgroup.heanet.ie\/wp\/index.php\/2014\/09\/18\/lir-bursary-2014\/\">LIR Bursary<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Niamh Walker-Headon: winner of the 2014\/15 LIR Bursary!<\/p>\n<p>We are delighted to announce that the winner of the LIR Bursary is Niamh Walker- Headon of ITT Dublin.\u00a0 Niamh will be using the bursary to attend a Digital Marketing event in December.<br \/>\nWe will get an overview of this event at the annual LIR seminar in March 2015 and Niamh will also post her findings on the LIR website \u2013 which we\u2019re sure will be of benefit to many in the LIR community.<br \/>\nCongratulations Niamh!<\/p>\n<p>The LIR\u00a0Bursary valued at \u20ac500, is to be offset against attendance at a national or international conference which considers emerging technologies in libraries.\u00a0The bursary will be awarded to a maximum of \u20ac500 and can be used to defray costs such as conference registration, travel and accommodation.The recipient will be required to write a conference report for the LIR website and deliver a presentation on their conference experience at the annual LIR seminar.<\/p>\n<p>Closing date for receipt of proposals: 20\/10\/2014<br \/>\nWinner announced: 10\/11\/2014<br \/>\nSubmission of conference report: 09\/03\/2015<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"font-size: 12px; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.irelibrary.ie\/\">IReL<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">IReL the Irish Research eLibrary is a nationally funded electronic research library, initially conceived to support researchers in Biotechnology and Information Technology in mid-summer 2004, and following on the success of this, expanded in 2006 to support research in the Humanities and Social Sciences.\u00a0IReL delivers quality peer-reviewed online research publications journals, databases and index &amp; abstracting services, as well as ebooks &#8211; direct to the desktop of researchers wherever they are located.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><a style=\"font-size: 12px; font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.edugate.ie\">Edugate<\/a><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">The Edugate federation is comprised of Irish Higher Education Institutions and Research Organisations that have agreed upon a standard procedure for exchanging information about users and resources to enable access and use of those resources and services.\u00a0Edugate builds a trust relationship between Identity Providers (IdP) and Service Providers (SP). It devolves the responsibility for authentication to a user&#8217;s home institution using their home institution access credentials and establishes authorisation through the secure exchange of information (known as attributes) between both IdP and SP.
