IREL Initiative
The Irish Research eLibrary (IReL) initiative significantly increases the availability to Irish university libraries of a wide range of electronic resources.
The result of over two years of discussions between the CHIU librarians and Higher Education Autuority (HEA)/Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI), the IReL initiative means that researchers in Irish universities will have access to the contents of a wide range of electronic journals via their library web sites.
The HEA and SFI are committed to supporting the project to the tune of €4.5m annually until 2008, which means a stable environment for the development of services.
